FineTune for Firefox

A new version of FineTune for Firefox has just been released that's compatible with Firefox 3.0.

Although my previous version of FineTune worked OK with FF3, I've downloaded and used the new FineTune for Firefox version.

It saves a great deal of manual fiddling about via about:config

I have downloaded and used the tune up wizard but where do i find it on my pc as it seems to have now disappeared?

does it clash with iobit firefox speedup utility in AWC?

You should have a Desktop icon.

I don't use AWC, so can't answer that one.

Googling: "How to speed up firefox" produces a myriad of manual tweaks but the most common and consistent would appear to be the following:
(after typing "about:config"in the address bar)

network.http.max-connections-per-server - set it to 16
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy - set it to 8
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server - set it to 8
network.http.pipelining - set it to true
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests - set it to 8
network.http.proxy.pipelining - set it to true

It is interesting to note that running Firetune reverts the numerical changes back to their default values.

a dilemma what to choose out of

AWC3 firefox optimisation
or manual tweak

have you seen any comparisons anywhere or perhaps pca could run it in the mag.

Or just use the firefox addon - Tweak Network from click here
Saves a lot of hassle messing around in about:config as it has presets for you.

ff3 is optimised for modern pc's/ broadband connections, if you make it faster you may become unpopular on certain websites. don't tweek it much, especially if you visit a well known graphics card forum.

Now there's a handy little tool: thank you Bob The Blob.

sunny staines:
without actually sitting there with a stopwatch (at least until fasterfox is compatible with FF3) I honestly cannot say that I have noticed any magical difference with these "tweaks"
But we can't resist a tweak ... can we?
