finding drivers

I've got a problem with one of my drivers, which stops IE working sometimes, but I dont know which driver it is. does anyone know of any software, preferably free, or at least not american, that will tell me whats the problem, and then find the drivers needed. I've looked at driver detective, but its about 30 dollars.

How do you know that one of your drivers is stopping IE from working

Every now and again a program closes and I get a message telling me I've got a device driver error and tells me how to sort it out by reinsatlling the last driver I put on. I tried using netscape but it happens with that too. I think it might be the soundcard driver, from when I upgraded from windows 98 to XP. But I downloaded a driver for that a few months ago.
