Can anyone tell me what findfast.exe does. It is hogging my memory and slowing down my system. Task manager shows 2 findfast.exe running. The first is controlling 400MB of ram and the other 54MB of ram out of a total of 718MB..Search shows these are situated in C://windows/prefetch and the other C:/programfiles/Word97/office.
I use Office XP!
Plesase can someone help me, can I delete these files safely?

It is part of Office. You should be able to turn it off if you start Word, File/File Search, Search Options and disable the Indexing Service.

And go to system tools- system information- startup, remove the tick from the checkbox which loads it at start up.
