file transfers on networked PC's

can anyone please suggest the best software to use for transferring files/folders on a small LAN. Drag & drop takes too long as it transfers everything each time, whereas I wish to only update with anything that has changed, once the original transfer (backup) has been made.

what speed is your network running at? if you are using a normal hub, change it for a switch, they are much faster.

I use a program called Terrapin FTP. It works just like uploading a web page and has the benifit of needing a password to gain access. It can be set to startup automatically and run in the background.

Basically, to share files you log on to the other PC via Internet Explorer.

Very quick and simple to use and also has some really good features.
