File Segments Faulty?

  AubreyS 23:22 19 May 04

Hi all.

A friend of mine has brought his Toshiba 4600 laptop round. Its running XP Pro. It wouldn't boot and is now running a full scan and has found many file segments unreadable. Does this mean that the hard drive is faulty?

Thanks. A.

It could be a knackered HD or that many files are encrypted.

Hi Gandalf

Any solution apart from replacing the HD?

I'd check the encryption bit first. Is he/she having problems with the HD?

How do I check the encrytion bit? Its just not booting Just asks if I want safe mode, safe mode with networking, Safe mode with command prompt, start windows normally and last good config, but won't let me do anything, just keeps rebooting. A.

I have tried another hard drive and I am still getting the same problem.
