Is this file ( MSgsrv32.exe ) a virus ?

Often when my computer hangs up...
I do ctl-alt-delete .
The programme not responding is this one.
it is located in windows\system .
11,344 bytes, some of which might be inserted viciously ???
If it is genuine, why should it be running at all?

The process known as msgsrv32.exe is used within Windows to provide Message Server functionality. Usually it will not be shown in the task list, unless it has crashed or had some kind of error. You should leave this process running if possible. This is part of Microsoft Windows.

Google the name - there are plenty of MS Knowledgebase articles to identify the problem.
