File from disc to H/D

Hello,

Sometimes when I drag a file from a disc(DVD or cd) to my desktop it takes minutes, depending on the size.

When the same file is dragged to my second internal H/D it can take upto a hour.It does not happen with all files.

Copying from H/D to H/D only takes minutes.

The second H/D is a Western Digital.I have used their diagnostic tool to test the drive,no errors found.

Any ideas please.
Cheers

Only thing that comes to mind immediately is, are the hard drives regularly de-fragged, especially the second one? Also, if the files which take a long time are Video files, that could partly explain
why the job takes so long.

Hi Technotiger,The harddrive is defragged monthly if required. Some of the files are Video, but I can not understand why it would take longer to drag the file to the second H/D.

Thanks for your help
