File compression

Can anyone advise me of any free compression software other than winzip or winrar which require you to purchase a licence after so many days.I need to send some photo,s which are of a large size(anything between 3+5mb.Manythanks

Zipping photos will not make much difference, depending on the format. You would be better off to reduce the size to a suitable level and then send them - unless they are for enlarging and printing. If they are just for on screen viewing make them down to a few hundred pixels in size.
Don't forget to save a copy of the original and work on that.
