file association help

  lovechop 08:58 05 Mar 08

Hi. I can no longer use some shortcuts on the desktop, file association errors come up, i click on music and now a search wizard comes up. I cannot use my start menu links ie my computer, this brings up the search wiz again. I have tried f/assoc fixes to no avail, and have followed advice -folder options etc. None work. I have xp sp2. any ideas? thanks

Do a System Restore back to before this started.

Are you sure you have been clicking on dates shown in Bold print for the System Restore, 'cos the other dates are not restore dates.

Or try scannow click here to effect a repair.

does search wizard find anything or ask you to choose a program from list to open the file?

did you back up the registry first?,or most reg cleaners create a back up before cleaning, try restoring the back up.
Theres also this fix for folders defaulting to search.
