Go back to ff2.0.04, FF3 RC2 is still in its testing format, i.e. not finished yet.

I've just noticed tonight that it doesn't work with FF2.0.0.14 either.
It appears to be caused by a misidentified security certificate.

You only see the problem with FF" when you try to sign on to online banking.
A security warning page pops up giving you a number of options eg accept the certificate on this occasion only and another saying that it could be a spoofed page.
All a bit disconcerting although nationwide did state on their message page that they were altering security certificates but seemed to imply that it only affected IE7 users.
