My old computer is at a point where its probably more cost effective to buy a new pc, I understand that there is a new aldi medion pc to be released and available around the 15th of feb MD8820 multimedia base station click here

The specifications are not currently available ;but previous offers have been impressive.

Would appreciate your feedback on medion computers and there support,

regards sinbads

Medion doesn't actually manufacture computers - or anything else for that matter - it rebadges products from specialist manufacturers and distributes them though its retailing partners in Europe and the States such as Aldi.

There have been mixed reactions to previous systems on sale, usually related to one or two components such as TV tuners.

But you do seem to get a lot for the prices asked.

Had my 8386 for nearly two years not had a thing go wrong.

3 year return to base gaurentee.
Came with an full set of discs (rare nowadays) and a lot of installed software.

TV tuner is excellent if not using the cyberlink software that came with the PC.

I would certainly say good value for money.

click here (in German, but you get the main specs)

Note it comes with Vista home premium. People on here generally say Medions are very good, they usually give you a lot for the price.

Thanks for your input I think what attracts me is the fact that you do seem to get a lot for your money. What are your experiences of product support?

My Medion was 3 years old back in November last year. I contacted support a handful of times, once for a software problem to do with Zone Alarm and the card reader and they offered a solution.

Support was 3 years on-site (not return to base) and one time I thought I had a faulty wireless card (which didn't actually turn out to be faulty) but the engineer who came to my house replaced it anyway. Only a few weeks before my 3 year warranty expired the power on button broke and Medion sent me a replacement bezel which I offered to fit myself rather than them sending a technician.

I will certainly consider another Medion when I come to upgrading however my 3+ year old still holds it's own!
They are happy for the customer to make certain repairs as it saves them the cost of the technician, not many companies allow this. Also upgrading or opening the case doesn't invalidate your warranty.

Support can be contacted via email or an 0870 number but if you go to click here you can find a regional number to use instead.

All components seem to be branded and not cheap poor quality and the fact that you get full back up software is something these days.

The "I will certainly consider another Medion when I come to upgrading however my 3+ year old still holds it's own!" was intended to be my parting statement...

Thanks guy's for your feedback, couldn't wish for more quality parts/good spec/good support/and price.

I have not actually found out the complete spec;but looking at previous models, can only assume the MD8820 will be no different. It also includes vista home premium.

Just hope this old girl keeps running click here again
