fax/modem DAA module

I'm trying to use a supersocket7 mobo, itsays it takes the above direct into the board. Anyone know what one is. & can I just use an ordinary modem in a slot, if I disable the DAA thingy? Thanks, Al.

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't install whichever modem you want. In this PC, I have a PCI 56k modem, a USB 56k modem and my Nokia phone all installed simultaneously. When setting up a Dial Up Networking configuration, I simply select the modem I want to use.
