I have just bought a new PC which is running Windows XP Pro under a Fat32 file system. After reading the help files etc, I have deceided that the NTFS file system would be better suited to my needs. I it possible to convert to this by re-installing Win XP "over the top" and if so, would I loose any/all of the programmes/files already installed?

Many thanks in advance guys.

no need to reinstall, xp will be only too delighted to convert to ntfs, click start,go to help and support, type ntfs in the search box and it will give instructions how to convert from a command prompt, its very easy and when restarted xp will convert to ntfs and all your programs/files will be intact.
