assuming that you'll be using Windows XP or Vista, format it as NTFS.

As the FE say's use the NTFS file system, more space :)

FAt32 - can be seen by all windows systems but cannot hndle files above 4G

NTFS - cannot be seen by windows previous to NT ? XP
makes better use to disk space and can handle large files over 4G.
