Should a hard drive be formatted in FAT16, FAT32 or NTFS?

It depends. For most practical purposes NTFS is regarded ad the most secure and efficient format.

It also depends on what operating system you use. NTFS will not work with windows 95, 98, 98se or ME.

It's fine for windows 2000 and XP

Fat 16 is only for very small (under 2gb) hard drives, Fat 32 will work on all formats ,except floppy disk, NTFS will only work on win XP .
Hope this helps
