Hello there,

Is FAT the same as FAT 16 ?

I wonderd if these formats are so old now that XP only shows the difference between FAT and FAT32

So if an SD card is FAT12/16 it will only show up as FAT.

I have a DAB radio which is known to have issues if the SD card is not formatted in FAT 16, but even when formatted in the radio itself it shows FAT in XP ?

Regards Tim.

I did look at that before, they is a lot of history but it still does not confirm how windows now views each allocation table, I am trying to find out if a anything less than FAT32 is shown as FAT.

Be it fat 16 or fat 32, it will just display as FAT.

To find out what type of table you have, open control panel > administrative tools > disk management.

This will give you the information you require.
