Hi Carolann,
T progs that I have found potentially useful but have done no more than play around with them yet are:-
Ultimate Family Tree which came free with Computor Shopper magazine issue 147 May 2000 -- this allows one to associate many types of media with people eg BMP Jpg wav etc:] and
The Times Family Tree. which in the version I had could only take BMP files but was very easy to use. A query to the makers elicited the following response
"I can confirm that unfortunately, it will not be possible for you to use the pictures you have stored as .jpg with the Times Family Tree program, without converting them to .bmp.

We do, however have 2 Family Tree products which will enable you to use .jpg files. Both products are detailed below:

When doing a family tree, you will need to consider that most internet contacts and information are American in the main.It is only in the last few years that the UK have shown any real interest in this subject.

Historian as had very good reviews click here You could also check these two websites click here click here

There are a number of very good information sources, which you local library should have details. The most advanced world-wide records are held in Salt Lake City via the Mormon Trust. This site as many 'hits' per day, so it can get congested at peak times.

On Tuesday evenings, there is a new programme on BBC 2 called 'Who Do You Think You Are?'.Well worth a look as to the events that can unfold when researching your family history.

Thats the main thing to consider, i put all the family details on a small prog issued in 1994
called Family Tree Maker . Have since tried a number of later programes ,but in this case simple is best.
But at least if their Gedcom based , it makes life so much easier to swop files.
