Extra USB Ports

I have a powered 4-way USB hub, but now need more ports !

Is it OK to "daisy chain" another 4-way hub to the existing one ?

The power supply on my machine has recently been replaced with a 500w monster so I think that will be OK.

Thanks

Yes, you can daisy chain USB hubs (i believe the original USB specs spcecified up to 128 devices!) but you may find if you use a high power drain device towards the end of the chain, you may struggle a bit. you can of course always buy a powered hub. I picked one up for about £15 from Argos, so you can probably get them a lot cheaper.
Or, you can add more ports via a PCI card.

Amazon have 7 port USB hubs for as little as £8.99, click here to view them.

This PCI card might be a tidier way than another external hub. It's very easy to fit and doesn't need any drivers for Windows XP. click here

Thanks guys - thought it would be OK, but always a good idea to check.

Must admit I hadn't thought of adding a PCI card (DOH!)

I might go for this option to keep the "rat's nest" on my desk under control !
