external monitor for laptop

some of you might have followed an earlier thread. i have a notebook (ipower 5542 Packard Bell)but the monitor is not working. I can attach a CRT monitor but how do i get the laptop to use it. the manual does not say how to toggle monitors etc. any help greartly received.

Hi Andy. I don't have the same laptop as you, but on my Dell C510 I have to press the F8 key, maybe something similar on yours? Good luck.

tried the function key with both f5 and f11 and nothing...no signal.

next port of call the video card perhaps?

fn and f4 on my fujitsu, same on an advent I had.

Switch your laptop off, connect your external monitor, switch Laptop and your external monitor on, press the Fn key at the same time press F4 you can toggle between three options.
1. Laptop Screen
2. Monitor Screen
3. Both Laptop and Monitor Screen. Hope this helps.
