I've just bought a Maxtor external hard drive.

According to the manual it states that games will run quicker if they are installed on this drive rather than your normal hard drive.

I've have a Radeon 9700 Pro graphics card

Is this true ?.

The important difference in performance, between an internal and external drive is the data transfer rate. IF your USB2 or firewire connecton, of the external drive, is faster than the ide or sata speed,of the internal, then this may be true, but I doubt this is the case. The graphics card is irrelivent.
