i have a small 100GB seagate hard drive that will not connect to my pc

the lead from it has 2 usb connections, 1 is blue and the other is green

if i connect the blue 1 alone, the blue light flashes non stop, but i do not get the usb connection sound when i plug it in

if i connect the green on its own i get the sound, and the blue light flashes, but still no hard drive in my computer

if i connect both green and blue, i get the usb connection sound, a little icon saying mass storage device detected, the blue light flashes for an eternity and then i get bubble saying a problem has occured and the device may not work properly

why wont it work?

For a 100Gb drive you will need both usb's leads connected.

Have you had a look in device manager for the drive. Is it new, has it been formatted?

there is a little exclamation mark next to the mass storage device, could it be i already have an external hard drive connected?

i've also got exclamation marks next to a few other things

Right click the mass storage device and pick uninstall. Reboot the computer. When it is at desktop, plug the drive in again and try.

Check if it is also listed in disk management.

Have you ran the motherboard driver disk. It may need some usb files off it.

You need to install the drivers for the other

RADEON 9600 SE SEC FAMILY
ETHERNET CONTROLLER
MULTIMEDIA AUDIO CONTROLLER
RAID CONTROLLER

because they won't be working properly.
