Does it have to be external?
Maplin is doing 300Gig seagate drive for about £100. Can use an IDE to USB 2.0 adaptor and a caddy/ case

Yes, i want a external hard drive. I also want it to be as small as possible. You can run linus and windows on an external hard drive. Just plug and play on any computer

build your own external hard drive as suggested by Nickmax59. did this for the other half for her laptop with an old 20gb internal IDE hardrive and an external case that was USB and had its own cooling fan inside, payed about £12 for case at pc fair

Maplin have a "Seagate" 250Gb external hard drive on offer at only £89.99.Checked reviews seems to be easy to use and works very well.

I am not high-jacking this string, but can anybody suggest a good "Mobile" external Hard Drive which powers off the US2 port of a laptop
