Can anyone help? If i was to use a P2P programme on an external hard drive would any spyware / adaware be attracted to the external hard drive rather than my internal hard drive.

Thanks in advance

That depends on which P2P program and what you intend to do with it.

Using P2P programs usually mean you are at risk of exposing your PC to spyware, viruses and trojans. If you have the external hard drive connected, then there is a risk of infection.

Virus is a Virus and once it get onto a drive connected to your comp, it gets into your system. There is only one sure way, keep clear of sites that are a known threat.

Have to agree with Woodchip on this one. Using an ext drive does not prevent a virus from infecting the system files or registry!
Using P2P you are always at risk of downloading a nasty.
As always, make sure you av is up to date and you have all the tried and trusted antispyware proggies and a good firewall.
Filenames on P2P do not always belie their content!
