External hard disc will not show

  Quilljar 15:22 25 Apr 06

I have connected a new external HD 120Gb USB connection. Win XP recognises new hardware, it then says it is installed and working. But it does bot show either as a window or as an icon in Mt Computer.
I have had the same results on three Win XP computers now. I use two other HD myself on the same computer with no problems at all.
Has any one got any suggestions 'cos I an stumped.

Have a look in Control Panel/Admin Tools/ Computer Management/Disc Management. If it's showing there you need to format it.

It appears like you'll need to format it. Go to Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management (see this guide click here, about half way down). G
