Extending WiFi

I have 2 sky routers, an old white one that is not used and a newer black one that is used. Both are registered to my account. I'm trying to extend the WiFi from the back of the house using the old router. I have connected it to an RJ45 cable and switched it on. Now I can pick up the WiFi signal in the garden and it is showing as my Internet but it will not connect? Do I have to alter the setting and if so to what. I would like to keep both routers as WiFi enabled otherwise I will be in the same situation (WiFi at the front but not at the back or vice verser) any idea's??

I am certainly certainly not very knowledgable on this subject but did look into doing a similar thing recently and off the top of my head,I believe that the setting should be exactly the same in both routers. I see if I can locate the info later, but I expect others will have a more complete answer for you.

Any chance of re-posting the link as I am interested in this post also?

All sorted now thank. Renamed IP address on second router to switched off DHCP on second router and set access key on second router to the same as main router and bingo, WiFi all over the house and all the way to the bottom of the garden
