EXTENDED MEMORY LOSS

I am running Windows 98 and have suddenly developed problems with the above. When I boot-up I am getting a Hard Disc reading of 3174MB instead of what it should be 4327MB and Extended Memory of 31MB instead of 47MB. My manual seems to indicate that the error is "Memory size does not match CMOS".
Can anyone enlighten me as to the problem and how to fix it?

Regards

Derek
