having just bought a new computer,I see there are three express card slots, one is taken up by the graphics card(x16?)two others are x4 and x1,what are these for? Also, having upgraded to broadband there is now a redundant modem, can this be taken out and the slot used for something else,ie a parellel port card as I have need for such a port?

PCI Express is commonly used for graphics card upgrades. Also, I have seen a few Wireless Networking PCI Express cards on eBay. I wouldn't let it worry me to much though, but the slots are useful if your graphics memory isn't great.

You can remove the modem if you wish and reuse the PCI slot for other cards as well.
