Explanation of web address

Hi

I need to give the URL of a specific website page to a colleague but before I do I would like to find out why it contains a percent (%) character? it seems to be generated by the browser.

This URL refers to a page that is in a directory, on the web server, that is named "JC Reports".

URLs can't contain spaces, the browser will substitute %20 for a space.

Other characters that get replaced are Tab replaced with "%09", + "%2B", < "%3C" and about 18 others
