Can anyone explain the reason for the following. I decided to upgrade my RAM from 256mbX2 and obtained a 512mb stick from the manufacturers of the pc. The pc had 1 stick in slot 1 and 1 stick in slot 3. Slot 2 was empty. I put the new 512 stick in the empty slot2. The pc would not boot up and all sorts of crazy figures appeared on screen. I removed the new 512 stick and everything worked ok. I then took the 256 stick out of slot 1 and put it in slot 2 next to slot 3 and put the new stick of 512mb in slot 1 and everything works ok. Since all three slots are identical why should this happen please??
