Will this fix the following startup problem I have:

16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem
Invalid program file name.Please check your pif file.Choose 'close' to terminate the application

Just to also let you know I have run numerous registry (Regcure) and virus checks (AVG and Windows One Care). No viruses found I have fixed all the errors found with regcure. Still can't get rid of this error message.

Yes that ought to work, but you need to change the F:\I386 part to reflect the CD/DVD drive letter your PC is using. And have an XP CD in the drive.
