Excel - Splitting a cell

In excel I have got a row with a couple of thousand names in, simply what I need to do is remove that last 3 characters from every cell. I tried the ‘Text to Columns’ function but this would only work for removing a set number of characters from the left of a cell by using the ‘Fixed Width’ option. Any advice would be greatly received.

In another column use the formula

=LEFT(B9,LEN(B9)-3)

and copy down.

(You will need to substitute the real cell address for B9 which I chose at random).

Thanks for that. I new there would be a formula but I couldn't work it out.
