How to write a formula to show divisions of 360 degrees as: degrees-minutes-seconds in excel I cannot find anyway to format the answer.
Example in excel 360 divided by 84 =4.285714degrees, to find out the position of the 58 tooth in a wheel, multiply 58 by 4.285714 the output I am getting is 248.57, the same as the calculator but the true answer is 248 degrees 34 minutes.
Can anyone explain to me where I am going wrong please.

... or you can set up another cell or column to determine the decimal part of the number (if your decimal answer is in A:1, put "=(a1-int(a1))*60" into B:1 without the quote marks. This subtracts the integer of your degrees (4) from the original number (4.285714) to give the fraction only (0.285714) and then multiplies it by 60 to give the minutes. You can also apply it to the minutes, if you want, to give you the seconds.
