Excel problem

Running excel2003 on vista and I cant save files. It says"Cant save as file is read only" Does anyone know the reason for this?

If you downloaded the file from the internet this is a common 'issue'.

Try File > Save As. You should have write permission for the Saved As version.

Have you tried looking in the file properties to check if it has been set to read only

Thanks to all the problem was caused by a rogue office 07 file left over from a trial copy.Something to do with BCM in outlook. Manually deleted and now all is fine.
