Excel Opening Files Simultaneously.

Having recently transfered several files from one pc to another, i am experiencing a strange problem.
Everytime i try to open an excel file, another excel file opens first, disappears, then the file i attempted to open. opens. When i then close the wanted file, the unwanted file is still there.
If i delete the offending file, the problems stops, but if i then create another file, this new file then opens along with the wanted file.

Hope this isn't sounding like gobblegooke!!!

Also, when i open/create a new excel file, ie Book 1, and add data to it, save it etc. When i then try to open and create another new file, ie Book 2. The Book 1 with all its data opens.

I have never seen this problem with any pc/office software that i have used.

I would appriciate any help or pointers to solve this slightly annoying problem

Thanks in advance

Try looking in the following folder locations - you might find the offending file and you can delete it:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\Xlstart
C:\Documents and Settings\User name\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART

where User name is your login user name.
This assumes you are using WinXP
