I need some advice please, I have recently edited an Excel template for a colleague and ended up with a huge file of 18Mb. The file was quite large to start with at 2.2Mb. I have created more complex spreadsheets myself and the largest is around 600kb.To go from 2 to 18 meg is to say the least, peculiar. The editing was limited to adding and subtracting some names from a drop down list and changing dates and footers and a few odds and sods. Can anyone tell me what has happened and can I correct the problem without redoing the entire book of 52 sheets?

The original was compiled in Office 97 and I am currently using Office 2014 in compatibility mode, I'm running Windows 8.1. I have tried saving to both the original .xls and in the .xlsx formats but only results in about 400kb saving.

Any help would be much appreciated.
