Excel help please.

I have a column of numbers in A and about 1000 rows down. I have gaps in the numbers whch I want to close up e.g AB1234 567 890. What is the formula that I can enter in the first cell and fire it down to do the rest please?

=SUBSTITUTE(A1,CHAR(32),"")

and copy the formula down.

Thanks VoG could you quickly break down the formula as to how it works so I know for the future.

=SUBSTITUTE(OriginalText,TextToRemove,TextToInsert)

OriginalText in A1

TextToRemove = space = ASCII character 32 click here

TextToInsert = "" i.e. nothing.

Thanks VoG I got the hang of that now. I found that I could also use find/replace as I did 'find' spacebar to make a gap and 'replace' with nothing and that worked.

Ah yes, but you did ask specifically for a formula ;o)
