Excel formula help

I have an Excel spreadsheet with a column of hours/minutes (for example 18:00, 3:00, 6:00, etc).

However when I try to total those hours/minutes using =SUM(.......) it treats the hours as a 24-hour clock and calculates the sum of the column as a time.

What formula do I need to simply add up the column to arrive at a total number of hours and minutes?

I have a similar spreadsheet which works fine. Ensure that all cells, including the cell where the total is, are formatted the same, i.e. custom time: hh:mm. Your formula above is correct, just make sure you display the range of cells correctly e.g. =SUM(D7:D57)

You need to set a Custom format for the result cell

[h]:mm

Thanks for your quick response.

Unfortunately that's exactly how I already have the cells formatted, so my problem isn't solved!
