Hi
Can anyone help me with the following?

MS Excel XPPro - Have a cell in one worksheet that has a formula to update it from another cell in same worksheet.

Want to be able to link the contents of that cell into another cell of another file and make the contents of the cell in this file automatically update when I open it up.

I know it is possible but can not seem to do it even after having read the help file on linking cells.

Many thanks

Have you tried Tool, Options, Calculation, Update Remote References (ticked)

The way to refer to a cell in another workbook is as per the following example:

='C:\EXCEL\[BOOK1.XLS]SHEET1'!$A$1

Have managed to resolve the problem now but thanks anyway for your help.

It was appreciated.

Open both excel books go to cell you want the info in and click on it.

Click on auto sum symbol ∑ go to work sheet you want the info from and click on this cell.

At the top you should now see something like =SUM('[Exel book.xls]Sheet1'!$D$8),

Click the tick symbol and it should now have the sum in cell/worksheet you want.
