Excel 97 invalid page fault message

I use Excel97 SR-2

It used to work fine but now I keep getting error messages.

This morning I have tried to insert rows into a multi-sheet spreadsheet (nothing complex in it all and all the sheets totally independent of each other). As soon as I try to do this I get:

EXCEL caused an invalid page fault in
module EXCEL.EXE at 0167:3011042b.

I have tried creating a new spreadsheet and copying the data into that but I get the same message then when I try and paste even one cell.

I have also re-installed Office 97 and it made no difference.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Rick

The original file may be corrupt - hence copying and pasting data from it to a new workbook may still cause a crash. click here describes various methods of recovering data from corrupt workbooks.

VoG
Thank you for that.
I went there and installed the work recreator.
Did a recreate, opened it and still had the same problem.
Looked for errors in the recreate log file. Were some on page set-up.
Ran the recreate again not including page set up.
No errors in the log that time but still have the problem on the recreated workbook.

I have been to a couple of other spreadsheets and am also getting the same error there.

Any more ideas?
Thanks
Rick
