Hello there.
I cannot open my Excel 97 spreadsheet workbooks in their original glory on my new Laptop with MS Works 7.0.
This has only a basic spreadsheet facility and when I do open one, it asks me which sheet do I want to open.Several of my workbooks contain, for example several sheets for various periods of time. In one particular example, say, for bank balances, sheets will be present that cover the last five years or so and, in the old format,
they can all be viewed simply by clicking on the appropriate year. Will I have to fork out £280, or thereabouts,on MS's Excel 2002 to have this facility again?
Regards

MS Works cannot read Excel files.

I can do you Microsoft Office 97 for £45.00 plus postage.

Try Staroffice v6 which is a complete office suite retails around £50 - 60 ... it's spreadsheet reads excel files with no problems . The word processor also happily handles MS Word files .... and as an added bonus it can also use xml files.

You could also try and download the viewer from microsoft, that would at least let you see the work.
