Alright, where to start,

After installing AOL 9, setting it up to wireless with a router downstairs using a Netgear WG111v2 adapter whenever i try to access some programs in the program files directory of my C: drive i get this error:--------------------------------------
| C:\Program Files\Opera\Opera.exe |
| Windows cannot access the specified
| device, path, or file. You may not have
| appropriate permissions to access the
| item.
BUT I'm the only user and the administrator, also the windows firewall control panel is grayed out when you go in to it and set to off

Do you have one PC or two?

Where is 'Opera' coming from?
Do you think a previous owner installed it,and it hasn't been removed?

Assume you are already an Aol subscriber and just want to install it on another computer?

two pcs, one wired to router downstairs
and the trouble pc upstairs using the adapter
Operas an internet browser i use aswell, aols already installed and working but its done something to my pc

It has to be a configuration problem.

I have not been there, or done that.

Many on this forum use Opera by preference but something has tripped over on your upstairs computer.

Have you tried the Aol "one click fix" on Aol Computer Checkup?

Have virtually the same setup. PC downstairs connected to Netgear modem/ router used AOL's software to install (wired).
PC upstairs connected wirelessly using a Netgear dongle and used it's own installer disc. Opera as main browser. No AOL software on it until recently. Works fine with or without AOL as you're on an always on connection. Maybe try a system restore to before the problem and using the adapters own installer disc to setup the wireless connection.
