Evesham 6200 Questions

I have just purchased an Evesham Voyager 6200 notebook. As this is my first experience with a notebook rather than a PC I have a few questions. Instead of bombarding Evesham technical support I thought I would post on the PC Advisor forum as it has helped me greatly in the past. I would like to thank those who helped me in my Ati 9600 Fastwrite thread. Thank-you!!

My first question is related to my 15”TFT screen. In the top left hand corner of the screen I occasionally see a white pixel. This white pixel appears intermittently, I thought dead pixels would appear constantly rather than intermittently. Although its not a major issue, in your opinion is it worth following this up as I believed black and white dead pixels were not permitted?

Secondly, on my notebook WLAN on/off button. When I press this button nothing appears to happen. The manual says that I have to enable the wireless option in the control panel network connection tab, but a wireless connection is not present. The manual reads that I should have a WLAN connection in control panel but it is not there. How can I enable WLAN on my computer?

Finally, I have noticed that my laptop builds up a lot of heat. When I play age of mythology the notebooks cooling systems starts up at various times throughout game play, but still the system seems warm. Is it normal for laptops to build up heat?

Thank-you for your help!

Dean

I was in touch with Evesham about a year ago although it related to an TFT screen rather than a laptop. I was told at the time, as far as I remember, that typically 4 dead pixels were considered acceptable. Unless it specifically stated that it would be perfect then you have to accept it. Like you I thought they either worked or didn't but it may be that only one of the colours is affected so it depends on the background.

All the laptops I've owned or used over the last few years have been warm to very warm after they've been in use for a time.

Don't know about the WLAN thing though.

P.S. If there was more than 1 dead pixel and they were clustered or concentrated in an area of the screen then it would probably be worth pursuing.

Thanks for your reply Big Elf.

I left TFT on a black background for 10min. At first there was no dead pixel but 8min later there was. Strange.

Thanks for your input!

Any luck getting the WLAN working?

Not yet, it appear the needed software is not installed on my system; and nor the recovery/ Driver CD. I will give Evesham a bell about this matter.

Also I sent evesham an e-mail 2 days ago for support with my Radeon card and yet still have had no e-mail confirmation, although my Radeon problems have been solved I will be watching my upcoming support request to evesham more carefully.

Thanks for your help
