Every image on the internet is copyright protected

From another Forum:

"Every image on the internet is copyright protected, unless a clear disclaimer is visible from the creator (or the holder of the rights to the image), allowing other uses of the work."

Opinions welcome.

Wouldn't this be better in Speakers Corner, Consumerwatch or even Webdesign?

I would guess that few countries have enacted specific copyright laws in relation to the Internet, so any copyright would largely depend upon pre-existing or more general laws.

Even then, there is variance between one country and another. So I would be skeptical about such sweeping statements.

And yes - this should be in Speakers Corner or something like that.

Which Forum should this be on?

Speakers' Corner is the olace for this.

I quite like it on here.

Clearly untrue, as it's of course possible to use an un-copyrighted image and put it onto a web site.

It may be wise to treat images as if they were copyright, unless you know for certain they aren't (to ensure you don't have any issues) - but that's a different matter.

As you are asking for Opinions, this thread should be in Speakers Corner and not in the Helproom.

Thanks, that's what I thought.

lotvic, I don't know anyone in Speakers' Corner. I'm quite shy, really.
