Event Viewer system message

When looking around the event viewer, in the system area I came across some info on the updates that I was installing a few days ago and told me the following information:-
The description for Event ID ( 18 ) in Source ( Automatic Updates ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: 15 December 2003, 19:00, - Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 SP1 (KB824145)
- Security Update for Microsoft Data Access Components (823718)
- 823559: Security Update for Microsoft Windows
- Q817287: Critical Update (Catalog Database Corruption in Microsoft Windows XP)
- 814033: Critical Update
- Security Update for Windows XP (329834)
- 810565: Critical Update
- Security Update for Windows XP (KB810217)
- 810833: Security Update (Windows XP).

Can anyone tell me what this means and why is a future date listed in the info, should I be worried that my updates have not been installed? thanks for any help given

Can anyone just ressure me by telling me it's not any kind of virus, as I have a perfectly good firewall from NIS and all my virus definitions are up to date etc

its not a virus dont worry.im guessing an auto update failed to install maybe.

do you update xp manually via windows update site or do you have it set to automatic?

when you click the link in the event viewer error it should give you some more info and maybe a fix for it.

Give us a minute, it's teatime!

Sorry for being so impatient, and yes I do install windows updates from the Microsoft website.

Check for the updates in Add/Remove.
