I need to replace my ethernet input due to a lightning strike, but I have no ethernet card onboard, just an ethernet connector intergrated into the motherboard......at present the ip check reports 'no media present' so the ethernet is dead..... the broandband connection works fine on another pc....I've got a new card anyway, should I just install it in a pci slot, or must I make some motherboard changes first?

Just plug it in and it should be recognised. I did the same thing on a friends PC and had no problem
