Does a connector exist to convert an Ethernet cable to an ADSL plug? Or are they totally incompatible?

Why do you need to do this?

his ethernet internet connection to his ADSL router.

In a word, no. But you could set-up DNS and DHCP according to your ISP and route internet traffic through your ADSL router on a ethernet port - works for me.

However, be easier, and better for security if you just buy a WAN/Ethernet router.

My son bought the wrong equipment which was incompatible with my setup. I was just wondering if it was as simple as getting a converter plug, but it seems now to be easier to just send back the wrong equipment.
Thanks
