error at windows startup

I'm currently running windows 2000 - the problem is that at start-up just as the computer shows the desktop an error appears saying:

"Cannot find file 'winupdate.exe' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available."

A short while ago AVG detected this file as a virus and deleted it - is there any way i can get the file back (if it is needed) or any way of stopping this error message appearing.

thanks for any help

way of stopping this error message appearing.

Search The registry for winupdate.exe See if it finds it?

Run command ,regedit, edit tab,in find box type in
winupdate.exe when it appears right click mouse and delete. File and any others should be install after a prompt when you go to the win/updates site for any updates to install.
