Error when back up to dvd

When i try to make a back up of a few things with Nero 5.5 to a dvd all goes well till the end
then i get errors,illegal medium,and could not perform end of disc at once.

I have tried several times and i still get the same error.Any one know how to fix this?.

Your version of Nero is well out of date. It may be that it doesn't fully recognise the DVD writer/disc you are trying to use.

Personally, I would never entrust a backup to a DVD.

Its updated to the latest on nero site,and its not a system backup just some apps and stuff i doloaded and wont to save.

I was doing it the same as i do a cd,but selected dvd in the wizard then drag and drop what i wont to be copied,is this wrong?

Regarding it not being a system backup, I wouldn't trust even a shopping list to be safely backed up on a CD or DVD.

Use the DVD (UDF) format to write 2 GB or larger files to DVD. The standard data DVD format is DVD (ISO) and the ISO standard does not allow any file over 2 GB in size to be written to DVD.

Ok, using UDF worked ok got 3.5 odd gig copied,just 1 thing tho when it started to burn it said somthing about might not be able to read a mutlisession or the second session on anything less then xp,would this mean i wouldnt be able to use the disc on 98se machine?
