I can retrieve my mail either through webmail or by changing the setting from properties on my accounts from the IP address to pop.wanadoo.co.uk but I have no idea why even if I select apply but next time I boot up & log on same applies. Any ideas how to resolve?

Do you have an anti virus program scanning your incoming mail? If so, that could be making the change.
