Error messages when using desktop shortcuts..?

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 with Vista Home basic... everything has been running absolutely fine, but recently i have been having a problem with some of my desktop shortcuts....

I have approx 3/4 icons that are shortcuts to internet pages/forums etc., but when i click on them I get an error message saying 'Windows cannot find http://(address of webpage)' please make sure you have typed it in correctly, and try again' ...

...but within 2-3 seconds the actual page opens up..??? still leaving the error message on screen..??

Any ideas anyone..... it's getting really annoying !

Googled.Windows cannot find http:// will give you something to look at until someone comes up with a solution.
